Emergency services say more than 70 injured at gathering of Jamiat Ulema-e- Islam party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province
At least 40 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that targeted a political party gathering, police said.
Police said the explosion in the Bajaur district, bordering Afghanistan, was caused by a suicide bomb. However, no group claimed responsibility for the attackat a political convention by the conservative Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party (JUI-F), a government coalition partner, ahead of elections later this year.
